Portland Japanese Gardens, Portland Oregon. The most beautiful place on Earth It is breathtaking how this moss covers every inch of the floor and how green the forest of the garden is. Sorry I submitted two in one day Hope you watchers don't mind...
Normally, such a predominance of color in an image would give me pause unless it contained a small area of strongly contrasted color. But here the preponderance of green is what really makes this image. My immediate first impression is that this evokes a strong sense of peace and life. It reminds me of some of the hiking trails that can be found in the Appalachians on a breezy summer day.
Color and exposure seem perfect to me, with blown highlights and clipped shadows only appearing where they should. Composition is likewise very nice, except that the horizontal lines of the steps seem to rise slightly at the left. This might be faithful to the scene as it was, but I find it ever so slightly distracting (I'm also a little neurotic about keeping horizons perfectly level, so take that with a grain of salt). I would suggest trying to re-level the image using the seventh step from the bottom as a reference.
The photograph is lovely, and I could find almost nothing worth critiquing. The way the step is cut off in the corner is a bit awkward to me (even just cropping it up so that the photograph ends just below the shadow of the second from the bottom step would improve this photo in my eyes) and the trees on the left lead my eyes away from the end of the path (which to me is a much more interesting place to look). Other than that this photograph is pretty much perfect. The colors are gorgeous, and the lighting gives it a very fresh, springy feel. Great capture!

Overall a truly wonderful image. Job well done!
