I was so excited about the colors and light I had captured in this shot The split neutral density filters, neutral density filter, and polarizer really helped intensify the sunset/light against the rock while allowing me to capture a longer exposure of the waterfall.
To get there, we had to hike to the bottom of the gorge and find some small unmarked pathways to the outskirt of the falls area. After, I climbed across several of the white rocks you see and set my tripod up in the middle of the stream and propped up against some nearby rocks. It's always fun getting wet and right in the middle of a landscape to capture a photo Little editing done (sharpening, haze removal, etc).
This is one of the most beautiful landscape/waterscape shots I have seen in my entire time on deviantART, it captures the essence of beauty that is nature in all its glory. Nothing overdone, it's done superbly well and the colors are just intensely gorgeous. I love the contrast of the rocks against the blue of the water, along with the orange highlighting that is given to it by the background and sky.
It's kind of a surreal shot, too, because you never expect to see anything this amazing in reality. Looking at this now I feel so blessed to live in a world where beauty like this exists and you've captured it very well.
I lurrrve this. The colours are just WOW. The slow shutterspeed suits, it looks like the water has melted over the rocks - it's just so smooth!
The reflection also is great, of the orange rock behind. One thing though - the greenish background colours don't work for me, they pull me out of the dreamy colours and back into dull reality But then again, it is a nice seperator between the orange rock and the white rocks. So it's a matter of opinion I guess.
The white rocks fade out well into the background, and it is generally a perfect picture!
Thanks! 10/1 second is just the same thing as 10 seconds. I'm not sure why it displays it as a fraction, but I believe it's because quicker shutter speeds, like a third of a second, are displayed as 1/3 instead of .3333...
