This is utterly beautiful! I am typing up a story with a friend based off of the Garden of Eden. I would absolutely love it if I could get your permission to use this picture as a cover photo for the story. I would most definitely credit you and encourage others to look at your stuff.
Hm. I think I prefer this one out of the two shots - there's a lot more drama in the shot, and it's a much more unusual way to shoot a japanese maple. The color and lighting is absolutely perfect on this, though. I particularly like how the little slivers of sky seen in the top part of the image don't distract - that's what always gets me on pictures of trees, since they tend to glare quite a bit, but they're dark enough here that they don't, and the blue tones actually manage to provide a nice subtle color contrast. Good work.
